Week 1 - History of photography

History of Photography and the image

Photography has come a long way in its relatively short history. In almost 200 years, the camera developed from a plain box that took blurry photos to the high-tech mini computers found in today's DSLRs and smartphones.

Photography facts:

- Photography, as we know it today, began in the late 1830s in France.

- Niépce is believed to have taken the world’s first photographic etching in 1822.

- In France, Niépce formed an alliance with Louis Daguerre. In 1829 they began collaborating to improve the process.
